Boys’ swimwear comes in a variety of looks and designs, each with its own unique take on swim style. Most boys’ swim trunks offer comfort and classic appeal, while some also strive for maximum performance when they’re swimming in the water.
Looking specifically at swim trunks, it’s easy to see why this style is the most popular around. Swim trunks look similar to shorts worn as clothing on land (in fact, some styles are designed to be worn in both situations), but are made from quick drying fabrics, like nylon or polyester. Most swim trunks also offer an interior liner on the inside, offering additional support and comfort.
Board shorts are a longer version of swim trunks, as they hit at the knee. It’s also possible to find boardshorts that extend past the knee. Board shorts were designed with surfers in mind, as they offer less material than traditional trunks. This makes it easier for surfers or wakeboarders to get on their board, as less fabric can get in the way. Board shorts also feature a non-elastic waist and fit closer to the torso. They typically do not have the interior liner that swim trunks do.
Hybrid board shorts provide most of the features typical casual shorts do, like pockets for essential items, and fabric that looks like it fits in his everyday ensemble. If your child loves going straight from the beach to the playground, hybrid board shorts are a must-have!
