Curtain Tie Backs & Holdbacks
As the name implies, a curtain tie back is a decorative window treatment used to keep your drapes and curtains from closing. Not only are they easy to install, but you can choose between styles that help give your window a refined, polished look or simply fade away in the background. Difference Between Tie Backs & Holdbacks
Whether you choose to go with tie backs or holdbacks generally depends on the look and function you’re going for. Although both options are decorative accessories used to secure curtains in an open position, there are a few differences to take into account.
Tie backs are typically made out of soft materials such as cord, rope, or fabric. This option allows you to gather the fabric of the curtains and tie the tieback around them to hold it back. Holdbacks, on the other hand, consist of hard materials like metal, plastic, and wood. This option screws into the wall to draw back the window curtain panels.
How High Should Curtain Tiebacks Be?
To properly mount your curtain ties, they should be placed about one-third of the way from the top or bottom of the window. The amount of drapery material reaching the floor depends on the desired look of the curtains once they are hanging on the windows. You can either screw a small hook into the wall to anchor your tieback into place or you can wrap the tiebacks around your curtains and then hang them on the hook.
