How to Properly Store Your Wine
When storing wine, be sure to avoid keeping it in temperatures higher than 70° F. This will prematurely age the wine, and hotter temps will actually “cook” and ruin the wine, too. Keeping your wine between 45° F and 65° F is ideal.
In the same way, keeping wine too cold can be a problem. Since your typical kitchen refrigerator keeps foods at temperatures lower than 45° F, they are not ideal storage places for wine, either - at least not for long-term storage. For a few months, you’ll be OK. Hoping to store that expensive wine in a basic fridge for years? Don’t do it! These colder temperatures can affect the cork, causing it to crack and allow air to get into the wine, effectively ruining it.
This is where wine coolers come into play! Wine fridges keep those bottles at a consistent temperature, store them sideways (which helps keep the cork from drying out), and ensure the wine is kept out of direct light, and yet still visible through a transparent glass door.
For even more ease-of-use, look for wine fridges that offer slide-out racks for easy bottle access, multiple temperature zones that allow you to store your reds at one temperature and your whites at another, and low-noise operation that won’t annoy or disturb you when working to keep your wines at their optimal quality.

One rule of thumb is to take the number of bottles you are planning to store in a cooler, and then double it, as you’ll likely acquire more wine and will need the space for it.
